Typical Booking
It’s always a fun challenge to meet a strict criteria from a regular client, “the theme of the black tie ball this year is ‘seaside’, I was wondering if you could be two classic seaside entertainers?” – as luck would have it we can, introducing ‘The Deckchair Dandies’.
Several hundred people around several dozen tables, a five course meal, a giant deckchair, a photo booth, 2 official photographers, a casino, fireworks, a silent auction, a raffle, speeches and a 15 piece band plus a disco – and The Deckchair Dandies.
The room and decor were themed throughout and we were asked to provide our character meet and greet, close-up magic around the tables during the meal, a 30 minute stage show complete with a song and dance number and a purpose made finale. After our show we were asked to continue providing close-up magic for the final hour from our table in the bar area.
The client was totally thrilled and with dozens of guests insisting on posing for photos with us, the impact that The Deckchair Dandies made on the overall evening was enormous. It’s great to get compliments during and after a booking, but in the past decade it’s hard to think of many occasions where an act dovetailed so perfectly with the decor and the theme.
